Jana Nayagan censor certificate is finally out

After a wait of nearly seven months, Thalapathy Vijay fans finally have a major update on his much-awaited farewell film, Jana Nayagan. The movie has successfully cleared the censor process and has been granted a CBFC certificate after overcoming several hurdles.

The Central Board of Film Certification has awarded Jana Nayagan an ‘A’ (Adults Only) certificate. The approved runtime has been confirmed at 183 minutes, making the film 3 hours and 3 minutes long.

This certification has attracted attention because the original film, Bhagavanth Kesari, had received a U/A certificate for its relatively mild violence. The remake receiving an A certificate suggests that the screenplay may have undergone notable changes, possibly including more intense action or mature thematic elements.

With the censor clearance now secured, the focus shifts to the makers’ official announcement regarding the film’s release date. Jana Nayagan was initially planned for a Pongal 2026 release. However, objections raised by the CBFC and the film’s subsequent referral to the Revising Committee caused a significant delay in the certification process.

The situation became more complex when the producer approached the court regarding the matter. Despite these challenges, the film has now obtained its censor certificate, bringing it one step closer to its theatrical release and ending the long wait for Vijay fans.
