Movie Description
ETV Win’s latest Telugu original series, Gurthukosthunnayi, is now streaming on the platform. Starring Baby fame Viraj Ashwin alongside social media influencer Yashashree Rao, who makes her Telugu acting debut, the family drama generated decent curiosity with its nostalgic backdrop and emotional premise.
Now that the series has premiered, the big question is whether it delivers on its promise and strikes an emotional chord with the audience. Does Gurthukosthunnayi offer a memorable viewing experience? Here’s our review.
Story
After facing several obstacles, Santosh (Viraj Ashwin) finally wins over the strict principal Raghunath (Priyadarshini Ram) and secures permission to marry his daughter Vaishali (Yashashree Rao). Just when life seems to be falling perfectly into place, Santosh travels to Goa for a bachelor party with his childhood friends Bomma Anand (Godavari Gopi), Ganesh (Viva Raghava), and Srikanth (Pavan Siddu).
However, a sudden accident turns his life upside down. Santosh is left with a rare condition that allows him to retain only recent memories while his past is completely erased. This unexpected twist threatens to derail the wedding and puts everyone involved in a deep emotional crisis.
As the situation grows more complicated, Santosh and his family are forced to confront difficult questions. Will the wedding still take place? How do his loved ones deal with his condition? And will Vaishali’s family uncover the truth?
The rest of the series explores these emotional conflicts and their consequences.
Artists Performance
Viraj Ashwin delivers a sincere and effortlessly natural performance as Santosh. He portrays the character with admirable restraint, effectively conveying the confusion, vulnerability, and emotional turmoil of a man struggling to reconnect with his forgotten past. His performance reaches its peak in the emotional climax, where his subtle expressions and understated emotions leave a lasting impact.
Making her debut, Yashashree Rao leaves a pleasant impression as Vaishali. She brings freshness, charm, and youthful energy to the screen. However, her character is underutilized, and the romantic track lacks the emotional depth needed to showcase her acting potential.
Viva Raghava, Pavan Siddu, and Godavari Gopi, who play Santosh’s childhood friends, deliver neat performances. Their chemistry adds both humor and emotional warmth to the narrative, making their scenes together consistently enjoyable.
The child actors, along with those portraying the teenage versions of the lead characters, perform convincingly and make their presence felt during the flashback portions.
The supporting cast, including Rohini Hattangadi, Shiva Narayana Naripeddi, Priyadarshini Ram, Goparaju Ramana, Anish Kuruvilla, Meghana Sunil, Gafur, Madhu Steev, Ram Charan, Chakry, Simon, and others, provide adequate support and perform their respective roles effectively despite limited screen time.
