The much-awaited third chapter of the iconic franchise, Drishyam 3, has finally arrived with massive expectations riding on it. Directed by Jeethu Joseph and headlined once again by Mohanlal, the film continues the story of Georgekutty, one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated thriller characters.the movie hit the big screens today. Story
Georgekutty (Mohanlal) finally makes the film Drishyam, which he had been planning to produce for a long time.
Superstar Arun Kumar (Biju Menon) plays the lead role in it, and the movie becomes a box office blockbuster. As a result, media attention shifts towards Georgekutty and his family. Two media reporters closely follow Georgekutty’s movements, hoping to find clues about Varun’s (Roshan Basheer mortal remains and gain mileage in the industry.
This also happens to be the time George plans to marry off his daughter Anju George (Ansiba Hassan) into a good family. What happens next forms the crux of the story.
Artists Performance
There’s no doubt that Mohanlal remains the heart and soul of Drishyam 3. The veteran actor once again proves why Georgekutty is regarded as one of the most iconic characters in Malayalam cinema. His performance strikes a perfect balance between intelligence and vulnerability, making the character feel more layered and human than ever before.
Siddique also delivers a powerful performance as a grieving father who continues to struggle with personal loss and emotional trauma. His character arc adds significant emotional depth to the narrative and elevates several key moments in the film.
The movie is further supported by impressive performances from Meena, Murali Gopy, and Veena Nandakumar, all of whom contribute effectively to the film’s emotional and dramatic impact.
Technical Aspects:
The Telugu dubbing is fairly decent and manages to retain the essence of the original performances. Anil Johnson’s background score blends well with the film’s mood and effectively supports the suspense-driven narrative. The cinematography by Satheesh Kurup is visually appealing, while the production values remain solid throughout. However, the editing feels slightly stretched in the first half and could have been much sharper.
Director Jeethu Joseph, however, does not entirely succeed in recreating the magic of the earlier installments. While the film works in certain portions and delivers a few engaging moments, it lacks the emotional depth and lasting impact that made the previous films so memorable. The emotional connect, which was one of the biggest strengths of the franchise, feels noticeably weaker in this third installment.
Although Drishyam 3 offers moments of intrigue and nostalgia, it does not quite reach the high standards set by its predecessors. Considering the way the story concludes, continuing the franchise further may not be the best decision, as it risks affecting the legacy and reputation the series has built over the years.
Final Word
Drishyam 3 is not a bad film but it doesn’t entirely meet the audience expectations due to the standard that Jeethu Joseph himself set with the past two films.
