Following the blockbuster success of Manjummel Boys, director Chidambaram returned with Balan: The Boy, a psychological drama thriller penned by Aavesham writer Jithu Madhavan. Featuring Adhisheshan K. R., Farzana Palathingal, and Muhammad Zinaan in lead roles, the film hit theatres on June 19, 2026.
After its theatrical run, Balan: The Boy is all set to make its digital debut on ZEE5 from July 31, 2026. The film will stream in Malayalam, with dubbed versions available in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and Kannada, allowing it to reach a wider audience across the country.
Upon its release, the film earned appreciation for its gripping performances, Sushin Shyam’s impressive musical score, and Shyju Khalid’s striking cinematography. While a section of the audience felt the second half could have been more engaging, Balan: The Boy was generally well received and is now looking to find a new audience through its OTT release.
