Movie Description
Director Vimal Krishna, who made a strong impression with DJ Tillu, is back with Anumana Pakshi, starring Rag Mayur in the lead. The film attempts to mix comedy, mystery and romance around a man who constantly suspects everything around him. However, the execution fails to make the concept work effectively.
Story
Sunny (Rag Mayur) is a Vizag-based youngster who overthinks almost every situation and runs a YouTube channel called Anumana Pakshi. His life takes a turn when his friend Ananth calls him from Kashmir and talks about ending his life. Sunny travels to Kashmir along with his friends and meets Kanya Kumari (Merin Philip).
Things become complicated when Sunny’s friend Varma (Prince Cecil) dies under suspicious circumstances. Sunny begins wondering if he could somehow be responsible for what happened. His doubts eventually bring him face-to-face with police officer P Vasu (Ajay), leading to the rest of the story.
Performances
Rag Mayur does his best to bring humour to the character of Sunny, and a few of his scenes work. However, the writing doesn’t give him enough material to sustain the comedy throughout the film.
Merin Philip gets a limited role and has little scope to make an impact. Prince Cecil, Ajay, Brahmaji, Rashi and the rest of the cast are also held back by underwritten characters.
Technical Aspects
The biggest issue with Anumana Pakshi is its writing. The film tries to be quirky, but the situations often feel disconnected rather than naturally funny. The scenes don’t always flow smoothly, and the comedy rarely lands.
Sunil Kumar Nama’s cinematography is just okay, while Sricharan Pakala’s music suits the mood of the different scenes. Chota K Prasad’s editing is adequate, and the production values are decent.
Verdict
Anumana Pakshi starts with an interesting idea but fails to turn it into an engaging comedy thriller. The weak writing, inconsistent humour and lack of proper flow make the film a tiring watch.Rag Mayur manages to bring some fun to the proceedings, but there is very little else to make this comedy thriller an engaging watch.
