Movie Description
Horror thrillers often depend on a gripping mystery, unsettling visuals and the right amount of suspense to keep audiences hooked. 418, directed by Kirtan Nadagouda, attempts to offer a similar experience with a story revolving around a mysterious hostel room and the disturbing events connected to it. Presented by Prashanth Neel and backed by Mythri Movie Makers, the film arrived with expectations among horror movie fans.
Story
The story unfolds at a medical college in coastal Karnataka, where Vivek Shankar (Surya Raj Veerabathini) joins as a student. He stays in the boys’ hostel with his friends, but his room, numbered 417, is located beside Room No. 418, which has a frightening history.
Things take a strange turn when Vivek starts experiencing unexplained incidents. His growing fear leads him to investigate the mystery surrounding the neighbouring room. As the story moves forward, more details emerge about its past, setting the stage for a series of suspenseful developments.

Surya Raj Veerabathini puts in a sincere effort as Vivek, portraying the character’s fear and confusion as the mystery deepens. Chaithra J Achar delivers an impactful performance and stands out in several important scenes. Charan Lakkaraju, Preethi Pagadala and Ramesh Indira provide support to the narrative, helping the story move forward.
Plus Points

- A dark and unsettling atmosphere
- Effective cinematography and sound design
- Chaithra J Achar’s performance
- A few engaging suspense sequences
Minus Points
- Uneven screenplay
- Slow-paced stretches

Technical Analysis
The technical team does a reasonable job of establishing the film’s eerie setting. The cinematography makes good use of shadows and lighting to create tension, while the background score supports the suspenseful moments. The overall presentation suits the horror genre.
However, the screenplay needed more consistency to keep the audience invested throughout. Some scenes take longer than necessary to build tension, and the film could have benefited from sharper editing and stronger payoffs to its central mystery.
Final Verdict
418 has a promising concept and manages to create an eerie atmosphere in parts. The performances and technical elements work in its favour, but the uneven narration and lack of consistently effective scares hold it back. The film offers a few engaging moments, though it may not fully satisfy viewers looking for a gripping horror experience from beginning to end.
FilmyFast Verdict
An intriguing horror concept that delivers a few tense moments but struggles to maintain its throughout impact.
